What this portal is
Major apps are useful, but a free browser portal keeps a direct path to original music. Streams here are derived for web listening from masters owned by the artist. You can explore without creating an account. Commercial rights stay with Justin Helmer / Excavationpro unless a separate license is granted.
The player page is intentionally powerful: a large catalog, radio modes, favorites, a queue, and live-room links. This homepage and the guide articles carry the educational writing, while the player focuses on listening. That separation is deliberate: one page is for reading, the other is for pressing play.
The catalog is curated, not an infinite feed. New work is added when it is ready, and the public ledger records a snapshot of what the catalog contains. The site is part of the same independent workshop as excavationpro.ca, bpmfinder.ca, and eternalhaven.ca.
It is for listeners who want a direct room instead of an account wall, and for artists who want to see what an owned listening page looks like. You do not need a subscription, a profile, or a social login. You need a browser and a track you want to hear.
How free independent listening works
- Open the free player at /listen.html.
- Search or browse the catalog of original streams.
- Use radio or shuffle for continuous play; queue the tracks you want to keep.
- Optionally visit live rooms (Kick, Rumble, Twitch) linked from the player.
- Use the favorites button for a local list; no account is created.
- Optional support links help hosting — never required to listen.
The player works in a browser on desktop and mobile. It does not upload your files, does not require a signup, and does not build a listening profile. Favorites and queue live in your browser, which is why clearing site data clears them.

Why keep masters offline?
Public streams are listening copies, typically compressed for browsers and bandwidth. The archival WAV/AIF masters stay in the artist’s vault. Free listening is not a license to re-upload tracks as your own, sell the files, or claim authorship. Keeping the two separate protects the catalog while the public stream stays open.
The distinction is practical, not mystical. A stream is a file a browser can play; a master is the source used for distribution and long-term storage. If the masters were exposed, the site would become a download site with a player attached, and the rights model would collapse.
