About the lyric vault

Every lyric in this vault was written by Justin Helmer / Excavationpro. The vault is a reading room, not a reprint service: search a title, open the words, and play a mapped stream when one exists. The search and the mini player are tools; the words are the work.

The catalog and the lyrics are two views of the same practice. The free player carries the public streams; this page carries the text. Where a title has no stream, the dock may use an instrumental bed so you can still sit with the lyric. That bed is a stand-in, not the mix for that song.

Reading is free. Quoting two lines with attribution is fine. Republishing the full text, selling it, or feeding it into a commercial model is not. The lyrics and copyright guide explains the line in plain language.

The vault is also the best place to see how the writing changes across eras: the early records are more compressed and defensive, the later ones leave more space. Reading three lyrics from different years is a better map of the catalog than reading one in isolation.

The vault is not a substitute for the player and the player is not a substitute for the vault. One is for hearing the arrangement; the other is for seeing how the arrangement was built. Use both, and use the search when you already know the title.
